Accessories FAQs

Common questions about Accessories answered by our team

How do I know a charger is original?
Buy from an authorised or verified seller. Umoja sources all chargers and cables through verified channels and checks stock before dispatch. We do not carry counterfeit or unbranded lookalike accessories.
What power bank size should I buy?
A 10,000mAh power bank charges most phones about twice and fits in a pocket. Choose 20,000mAh or larger if you travel often or need to charge tablets and laptops as well.
Which Apple Pencil fits my iPad?
Apple Pencil generations are matched to specific iPad models, and they are not interchangeable. Tell us your iPad model and we will confirm the right Pencil, whether that is the 1st generation, 2nd generation, USB-C or Pencil Pro.
Does fast charging damage my battery?
Not with genuine chargers. Phones and laptops manage charging speed and temperature themselves. Damage comes from counterfeit chargers that ignore those safeguards, not from fast charging itself.
How does an AirTag work?
An Apple AirTag uses the Find My network to help you locate keys, a bag or luggage from your iPhone. Drop one in whatever you tend to misplace and track it from the Find My app.

Genuine Accessories in Kenya

Counterfeit cables and chargers are the fastest way to ruin a good phone or laptop. Umoja Marketplace Africa stocks only genuine accessories in Kenya, from Apple, Anker, Samsung, HAVIT and boAt, so the charger, cable or hub you buy protects your device instead of quietly damaging it.
Everything here ships same day in Nairobi and next day countrywide, with 3-day free returns. This category covers the everyday extras for both phones and computers, from charging to input devices to finding what you have lost.

How to Choose a Charger and Cable

Match the wattage. Check your device's maximum charging speed and choose a charger to suit. A recent Samsung flagship charges fastest on a 45W charger, most iPhones peak below 30W, and a laptop may need 65W or more.
Look for PD and GaN. Power Delivery is the universal fast-charging standard, and GaN chargers deliver the same power in a smaller, cooler body.
Certified cables only. For Lightning devices, MFi certification means Apple-approved. For USB-C, choose a cable rated for your charger's wattage to avoid slow charging.
Size the power bank to your day. A 10,000mAh pack charges most phones about twice and fits in a pocket. Choose 20,000mAh or more if you travel or charge tablets and laptops too.

Wired or Wireless Charging

Wired charging remains faster and more efficient, the right choice when you need power quickly before heading out. Wireless charging, including magnetic MagSafe, wins on convenience, drop the phone on a stand and it stays topped up. Many customers use both, a fast wall charger for mornings and a wireless stand for the desk. Note that very thick cases can interfere with wireless charging, so choose a magnetic-compatible case if you charge this way.

Common Mistakes When Buying Accessories

Trusting a charger that is too cheap to be true. Counterfeits overheat, charge slowly and can damage batteries permanently.
Buying a fast charger but a slow cable. A high-wattage charger with a basic cable still charges slowly. The cable has to match.
Believing inflated mAh labels. Fake power banks rarely hold half their claimed capacity. Ours hold what the label says.
Buying the wrong Apple Pencil. The generations are not interchangeable across every iPad. Check compatibility, or ask us, before you order.
